I don’t believe that Dawn and the adoptive parents were trying to “prey” on Cate & Tyler because there is no shortage of babies who need homes. No offence, but what made their baby so special? If it wasn’t Carly it would have been another baby. The system is overwhelmed with children. I have no doubt that they would have found another child to adopt, there’s no need to manipulate a couple into giving up their child.

Grace I don’t think you should be using photos of Carly in your videos because her parents have explicitly stated that they don’t want her photos publicized and she is a minor. What if she or one of her friends came across this video? I feel like we forget she’s an actual person sometimes. She didn’t sign up for any of this. She shouldn’t be in the tabloids.

What Catelynn & Tyler fail to realize is that Carly is becoming a young woman. When Carly was a baby perhaps it was simple to make her pose for a picture with her birth parents and give them a hug. It was simple because she didn’t understand the situation. Now that’s she’s older, maybe she wants to love them from a distance. Being a teenager is hard enough, she probably doesn’t appreciate the attention she gets from being associated with Teen Mom. It doesn’t help when Catelynn and Tyler take to the internet to bash her parents either. Catelynn and Tyler are selfish and it’s almost like they infantilize Carly- they can’t fathom the fact that she has her own life and can make her own choices. To them she’ll always be the baby that they had to give away but that’s their burden, not Carly’s. They need to get therapy so they can be better parents to the children they do have.

i feel sorry for cait and ty to a certain extent they didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. however they’ve been exploiting her story and throwing her parents under the bus making them out to be these controlling people that are keeping her from them. c doesn’t really know them to her they’re strangers sorry that sounds harsh but she isn’t gonna see them as her parents she’s at an age where she’s a teen she’s easily embarrassed. i think cait and ty made the right decision it’s normal to have those what if thoughts and feelings however it doesn’t give them the right to throw b and t under the bus. they want them to respect her privacy i think she probably doesn’t have much of a desire to see them bc in her mind she doesn’t know them all too well b and t are her real parents and she probably doesn’t have much of an interest at the moment to branch out. ik this all sounds harsh but they asked them many times not to talk about her share pictures of her or anything and the more they do that the more they do that the less likely they are gonna see her.

So, although I believe this could be Carly’s decision, B and T have been showing the same attitude this entire time. I feel like yes, the adoption agency should’ve done more to explain, but B and T are also responsible. B and T adopted a newborn baby from two teens in a bad situation, which they knew about. They agreed to an open adoption with two very young and vulnerable teens, C and T were already on TV and B and T were the adults who agreed to that. I have no sympathy for B and T and I hope that Carly starts seeing C and T more when she’s older. I see most adoptions that are similar reasoning like c and t as very predatory.

Having been through the adoption experience with someone I love, I feel sympathy for them. It feels like a death when you walk out of that hospital without a baby. It takes an enormous amount of love and courage to choose the parents and create a family by giving up your child so they can have a better life. It can also be very scary for the adoptive parents. What if they change their mind?? What if they try to steal them back?? What if they DON'T RESPECT BOUNDARIES?? They gave Cait and Tyler a true gift by allowing the visits, they did that for Carly. Cait and Tyler have broken the boundaries more than once and it may be that. Carly's in high school. That can be brutal enough without your birth parents on SM talking about you. And your parents. Maybe it's Carly who's saying not right now. 16 is hard. There's a lot of physical and emotional changes going on and dealing with them might be too much

As an adoptee of a closed adoption, it’s a choice. Nobody is forced to do anything. I feel them speaking publically for their dislike for Brandon and Teresa speaks volumes. Adoption agencies can be really predatory to teen parents. They are there to make money. Its so sad to think the average person choosing adoption is doing so for lack of finances, sometimes as little as $5000 would be enough to keep their baby. And the parents adopting want a "blank slate" with "no trauma" so keeping in contact becomes something to keep pushing aside. "We'll deal with that later" adoption has so many more grey areas that need to be understood and others that need to be looked into as unethical.

As an adoptive mother i wish more then anything I could meet up with my little boys bio brothers, grandmas aunties and mom in my own opinion and circumstances I think it's better for adoptees to grow and learn who they are by actually knowing where they come from and not always wondering but I absolutely understand that's my circumstances

Please do not forget that Cate and Tyler are given ample access to grow their relationship with Carly behine closed doors and choose not to. By their own admission, they have the Davis familys phone numbers and do not bother reaching out unless its for visits, despite being encouraged to call/text and check in on her for the sake of checking in on her. They also don't bother to send birthday cards, but buy cakes, sing to thin air and have Nova blow out candles for the cameras on Carly's birthday. Cate and Tyler were not promised annual visits on paper and they know this. Hell, they were only ever promised contact in the form of updates until Carly was 5. Brandon and Teresa have done so much more than what was agreed upon. If Cate and Tyler wanted a relationship with this child, all they have to do is be consistent in reaching out beyond just asking for visits and respect that this family does not want Carlys image or personal life plastered all over MTV and social media. Thats barely an ask. Fans have harassed the Davis family. At one point Brandon was getting calls at work threatening him to "give Carly back". Cate and Tyler need to keep it off social media/TV and stop stoking the flames amongst their fans. It can be very dangerous for Carly and her parents. Also, Carly will be 15 this Saturday (5/18/24).

Tyler and Catelyn made another decision. Use their adoption as a story line to stay on the show at the expense of Carly's privacy. They made it a running theme to the point of exploitation of her. Celebrating her birthday by having Nova sing Happy Birthday with a cake? The constant references. And I agree Dawn promoted this instead of helping them accept that Carly was not their daughter. They are not co-parents.
